A Safer State Street
On December 10th, the City hosted an Open House for their upcoming State Street Improvement Project. This initial designs for this project were developed in 2018 with support from the neighborhoods and city council though there was no funding for the project at the time. The Safety and Livability Bond, which we proudly supported, provides funding for State Street from 12th to 17th.
This project will add five blocks of protected bike lanes and, when coupled with other projects that are funded, will result in 3.5 miles of continuous projected bike lanes from north of Wallace Marine Park (by Harritt Dr NW) to 17th and State Street.
While we still have more work to do, together, we have made considerable progress towards making Salem a city where you, regardless of your age or ability, can safely bike across. With your support, we will increase the size of Salem's all ages and abilities bike network.
