On December 10th, the City hosted an Open House for their upcoming State Street Improvement Project.

Salem will now have a quarter mile of protected bike lanes on one of the busiest roads in the City.

ODOT built a new protected bike lane on Commercial Street NE between Union Street and Division Street.

SBV has set up a "Ghost Bike" memorial for Jeremy Wanak at the site of his crash. The all-white bike, commonly referred to as a Ghost Bike, is a way that communities across the world memorialize the individuals who have been killed while biking.

We are halfway through 2024 and are faced with a sobering statistic: Salem has experienced the same number of traffic fatalities at this point of the year as all of 2023.

More than $830 million (roughly 25% of total funds) from US Department of Transportation grant funding went to trails, walking, and biking infrastructure.

Without a street sweeper small enough to navigate protected bike lanes and multi-use paths, plans for physical barriers between vehicles and riders of all ages and abilities would remain out of reach to Salem’s residents.
