Ghost Bike Program

On July 10th, Jeremy Wanak was biking on Southeast Delaney Rd when he was struck by a driver at high speeds. He died of his injuries at Salem Hospital. Jeremy’s death was avoidable, and we are heartbroken at the loss his family and his community are experiencing right now.

With his family's permission, we have set up a "Ghost Bike" memorial at the site of his crash. The Northwest Hub generously donated an older bike that we painted white. The all-white bike, commonly referred to as a Ghost Bike, is a way that communities across the world memorialize the individuals who have been killed while biking. While we hope to never need to put out another Ghost Bike, with the family's permission, we intend to memorialize future fatalities in this way.

If you would like to help and be a part of this, please consider donating to the cause. Your donation will help buy the paint and needed locks. Please add “Ghost Bike Program” in the special instructions and we’ll be sure to set it aside for use on this program.
